Another tribute on the news
Cue “We must attack” hawkish calls,
Silenced are the dissenting views.

Ohh brave soldiers, ‘fighting for our freedoms’
have you looked across the battle lines?
The figures you see;
They too are called brave by their kin
But they fight for a different kind of freedom;
A freedom from your politicians
who straddle executive chairs
and play risk with the world

Why don’t you turn around and think of home,
The place where the powerful sit in growing comfort
While you’re shipped from warzone to *intervention*
followed by corporate profiteers and their private security

Then look back across those battle lines,
and wonder…
